The end of the year brings with it nostalgia, moments of melancholy, and a chance for us to rewind and ponder over our previous experiences. While it may be the end of a chapter, it gives rise to a new beginning. The New Year brings with it prospects for peace, hope, and love. It allows us to observe self-reflection and re-align ourselves with our purpose in life.
New Year resolutions are made at the start of every year by almost everyone. They may be kept in mind and followed with great determination and commitment, but a few months down the line, they are abandoned and forgotten. One of the reasons why this is so, is because of the hectic lives that have been made even more strenuous with the emergence of unprecedented events. The pandemic has brought with it a mix of struggles. From shattering dreams to loss of loved ones and opportunities to succeed, and even a shift in ways we meet and greet our friends and family. Adjusting to this new normal is something that still requires a lot more effort and time. For each person, the severity of this varies as well.
It is because of this that sharing words of encouragement along with the ambitions and goals for the New Year among our loved ones is one to encourage and motivate others to strive for excellence. Periodic reminders and dialogue with friends and family members throughout the years is also an approach that can be adopted to help inspire each other to achieve greater things in life. Similarly, planning may not just be limited to the entire year, it can be done every day. This is because, there may be unwanted events that occur, hampering your efforts towards a set target. During such situations, it is important to take a step back and unwind. There may be a reason why this may be happening, and whatever it may be, it is surely for the better.
Certain texts from the Bible can help us strengthen our faith and motivate us to stay on track and never give up, especially when things don’t seem to go our way. As stated in Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV), “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Keeping this in mind is what can help us prosper and succeed in our efforts. Having a reminder such as this is what we can do differently this New Year. By having it written down and within our reach, a constant reminder for hope to never be lost can be instilled within our hearts. Thus, giving up on hope and putting ourselves down despite the hardships is what we need to conquer the coming New Year.
