How can I make a difference? That’s the question, isn’t it? If it were that easy to answer, everyone’s name would go down in history. People may tell you that you have to follow your dreams or get a degree to truly make your mark in the world. However, the truth is that none of that makes you capable.
When people like Martin Luther King Jr. or the Beatles stepped in to make a difference, they weren’t qualified. Any other band could’ve stood up against the Vietnam War. Any other preacher could’ve stood up for civil rights. Yet, they stepped forward.
And that’s the key. You have to step forward to do your part. Not for glory, not for money, and certainly not for fame. The only reason you need to step forward is because it’s the right thing to do.
Plenty of catastrophes still plague our world today. There are injustices on every block, crime in every country, and crises in most of the world. All you need to do is to stand fast and find it within yourself to step forward.
And that’s why making a difference is so hard. It’s because most of us would rather observe from the stands, rather than get our hands dirty.
If you ask how you can make a difference, there are probably a few answers right outside your window. Begin by helping someone in need. Find out if your neighbor is sleeping with a full stomach. Help out at a local charity. Step forward. Make a difference.
