One Act of Random Kindness at a Time

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
-Aesop

Can you change the world? If you look at the bigger picture then you might be disappointed by the prospects of your revolutionary plans. Nonetheless, random acts of kindness are often considered as vehicles of change. That is because they may not be able to influence the whole world, but they do make somebody’s life a whole lot better.

So what do you have to do to make this happen?

Honestly speaking, good intentions and an open heart are enough, to execute this life-altering plan.

Here are a few random acts of kindness you can perform on a daily basis:

1. Give Someone Your Time
In the modern age, we are all either running around making ends meet or are wasting countless hours at end staring at our mobile screen. At the end of the day, we aren’t left with a whole lot of time for human interactions. Are we?

Therefore, you should stop telling people that you are ‘busy’ and start spending some quality time with them. But your time shouldn’t just be for friends and family. You can cut down your screen time and start volunteering at a nursing home, hospital or some shelter spreading joy to others.

2. Lend a Hand
Does your sister need help with her homework? Did the old lady next-door need help with her groceries?

Most of the times we ignore these little pleas of help because we think someone else will be there for them. However, that is not the case and you might be the only one who knows that these people need some assistance. That is why it is time to set your priorities straight and help them out, even if they don’t ask for help.

You see, your life will be more productive if you stop stuffing your hands in your pocket and start paying attention to those in need. Your small gestures and helpful deeds won’t cost you anything. But they will make you a better person.

3. Pass a Smile
This might be the easiest thing to do on the list and it doesn’t even require any effort. All you have to do is smile at strangers who seem to be going through a rough day. Or maybe smile at co-workers who are working on the same impending deadline as you. The trick is to keep it at a minimum and not creepy. If done in an appropriate manner, you’ll be able to bring a smile to somebody’s face.

How does it help? Well, for starters, smiling faces are better than frowns and tears. They also help release stress and stimulate a more relaxed state of mind. However, just on the surface, your pleasant smile will be able to help the other person forget about their worries. Even though this smile will last a mere five seconds, it will hold a greater value in their heart.

In a nutshell, one random act of kindness can prove to reap smiles and happiness all around. After all, wouldn’t you want to be part of something this wholesome?
